Pakistan

Pakistan
Pakistan became independent in 1947. It locates in North West of Indian Subcontinent, South Asia. It is a country of about 200 million people with a large working population. It has world-class agriculture and canal system. It has a strong military equipped with Atom Bomb [tested in 1998]. It is an Islamic country constitutionally, however, acks in good governance. It has remained world champion of Squash, Cricket, Snooker and Hockey. Pakistan could never plan its destiny, and regional/global events have always captured Pakistan to be reactive to external events. For the 40 years its western border remained hot due to the crisis and Pakistanis have to suffer directly as well as indirectly. After 9/11 Pakistan was dragged into a war against terrorism by arm twisting [USA & UK], consequently local Afghan forces declared Pakistan enemy like western forces. Pakistanis lost above 70,000 lives and suffered a loss of above US $ 150 Billion.

Education in Pakistan
top-universities-of-pakistan_99talks | Pakistan university ...First is the class produced in costly western schools (existing in almost every mentionable city), where even it is difficult for a middle class person (like me) to admit children. Sometimes, some of these schools are totally foreign and not teaching even geography of Pakistan, because their course pack has nothing to do with Pakistani society. They are not going through local boards for testing, rather their exams are held under foreign boards. Their graduates do not have any exposure to local literature. They have gone through Shakespeare and harry porters. They have no exposure to Shah Wali Ullah, Iqbal, Moddodi, Hijazi, Bano Qudsia, Nasir, Faraz, Faiz or any other Socio-religious-political writer. There world is different from rest of Pakistan. Unfortunately majority of ruling class come from this sect of society.

Pak-USA Partnership

Joint Statement by President Obama and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif ...In Pakistan, western establishment, all the times supported military dictators and poured in billions of US dollars during those regimes—including Ayub, Zia, and Musharraf. While during civilian regimes—including Bhutto and Sharif—western establishments ignored Pakistan or at least reduced support including economic and political. Fact is Bhutto and Sharif had ground-level support, among the masses, and supporting them would have created a soft image of the west in the hearts of Pakistanis. America has helped Pakistan in many areas, including defense and education, but American image is more of an enemy than a friend in the eyes of masses. Clearly, American missed the opportunity, even after pouring billions of US dollars in cash, as well as, in kinds.

International Trade--Pakistan
Pakistan is facing a persistent trade deficit, resulting in foreign debts—leading to compromise on national policies and sovereignty. This study analyzes international trade of Pakistan with a special focus on exports. The analysis is conducted by various lenses including goods traded, trading partners (in exports as well as imports), trading regions (including Australian, Asian, African, European and American regions) and economic cooperation organizations including Organization of Islamic Cooperation-OIC, Economic Cooperation Organization-ECO, and Association of Islamic Developing countries (D-8). International trade Data is extracted from State bank of Pakistan for 12 years (Jul-03 to Jun-15). Findings suggest Pakistan has trade linkages with multiple countries, across various regions, however, the volume of exports is significantly low than potential, as well as, than the volume of imports—resulting in trade deficit. The major import partners are China, UAE, Singapore, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, while major export-partners of Pakistan are United States of America, China, Afghanistan, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates and Germany. Pakistan needs to capitalize on less-expensive young population (rising in skills), low cost (indigenous) raw material, basic industrial infrastructure and agricultural and natural resources, etc. to achieve higher economic growth and exports. Policy makers need to encourage exports in less focused regions including Centrel Asia, Middle East, Africa, Australia and South America. To the best of author’s knowledge, this is first ever effort to present a comprehensive analysis of international trade of Pakistan and suggest measures to improve the state of affairs, in recent years.

Pakistan Lost Media War
With out any doubt these events occurred in Pakistan, but these events occur everywhere. Underage gang rape came on surface in United Kingdom, but no one offered a global prize to those effected girls. Gang rape occurred in Delhi, but nothing offered to effected girl and according to reports Delhi is the worse place for women, but no compensation or media coverage is given to Delhi women. Likewise many terror acts happen in USA by their own citizens but nobody has ever pointed finger that USA is a broken society. So much so school children were killed by a terrorist in one of the cities of USA but it taken as an act of an individual. There are many films produced by India based on true stories happened in Indian society e.g. Bandit Queen, showing worse circumstances than events occurred in Pakistan but no one nominated for Asker Award.

Hundreds of thousands of Pakistani professionals including doctors, engineers, managers, accountants, finance managers, IT professionals, University professors, technicians, masons, Barbers etc. are working respectably in various parts of the world including Middle East, Europe, Australia and North America. We got Nobel Prize in Physics. These expatriates remit, after meeting living cost in their host countries, about ten Billion Dollars to their families and relatives in Pakistan annually. One of our Universities stood first in OIC region ranking of Universities. After all some quality education exists in Pakistan, consequently world got so many able workers, contributing in service of fellow human being. While evidence suggests that Pakistani education system is standing on strong footing in depth and breadth, then how it could be true that Pakistan is a failed state and corruption has eaten it. I am not claiming that Pakistan is clean, however media notions should not be taken seriously, without looking into facts. Yes corruption is there, however system to catch the corrupts is there. Recently a prime minister was removed on account of contempt of court charges, as he was not opening a corruption case in Switzerland, against head of his party, who is sitting president of country with sovereign immunity worldwide. Where else this happened. In fact Pakistan lacks in its proper marketing, otherwise many societies in the region as well as globally are far behind than Pakistan. Even in India number of people suffering in poverty and hunger is more than total population of Pakistan.
